Painting on Rocks

White acrylic paint on natural (unpainted) rock, -with brown bunny.

I’ve been feeling the urge to be creative lately. I’ve been painting stones for some time now but the other day I was exploring the subject of painting rocks and found a blog in which the author talked about and showed her painted rocks that she made, using white acrylic ink on natural stone. I liked the idea very much and got started on my own white on stone painting.

I have no acrylic ink but I do have acrylic patio paint, so I used that. I also used a micron art pen, and after drawing the tree, the sprigs of grass, the sketchy background and fluffy cloud, I got bold and painted a palomino tan bunny in the foreground.

The picture was taken by phone and sent to my computer. The stone is resting on the floor of the porch and is surrounded by spent fuchsia blooms.

This stone painting was so much fun to do.

About NJ

I love to write! I realized in 9th grade that I really enjoyed writing. Every two weeks we had assigned topics that we were to use to write an essay. I liked writing the essays. I'm a mom and a grandma. None of my family live nearby, but they visit when they are able to come. I've been a pastor's wife and a grade school teacher. Now I'm retired and enjoying visiting others, and indulging myself in my hobbies, --writing and art activities. I'm very thankful for the blessings in life.

Sally, thanks for your compliment. I got inspiration from Geninne’s blog, and my son took the picture and arranged the fuchsia blooms around the stone. I thought that was pretty special. He said his daughter inspired him to think of photography that way. There is inspiration all around us! NJ
