Tulip Time

Tulips Brighten Spring

Every year in the fall I buy some new flower bulbs to plant in various places in the yard. Fall is the time to plant tulip bulbs. I think today is the day I will actually plant the tulip bulbs that I’ve been thinking about planting for two weeks now. I have this little trick, a habit I’ve had for years. I plant in the fall, don’t make a note of where I planted, then during the winter snows, I think of other things and forget where they were planted. In the spring I get to explore in my yard to see where the new tulips are growing. I love seeing the beautiful new tulip colors that started out as bulbs in the fall.

About NJ

I love to write! I realized in 9th grade that I really enjoyed writing. Every two weeks we had assigned topics that we were to use to write an essay. I liked writing the essays. I'm a mom and a grandma. None of my family live nearby, but they visit when they are able to come. I've been a pastor's wife and a grade school teacher. Now I'm retired and enjoying visiting others, and indulging myself in my hobbies, --writing and art activities. I'm very thankful for the blessings in life.

I absolutely love tulips, Nancy! My very favorite of all. And, when I think about them I remember a special moment from when I was 14 years old. I was home sick from church one Sunday morning and the next day from school. My mom brought some tulips to me in my room, and said that Roger had brought them for me. Roger went to our church, and was developmentally delayed (as you remember, my oldest brother was also). I always made an attempt to at least speak to Roger, and if possible have a few words with him. It made my heart happy that he thought of me when I was sick. 🙂

I love your comment, Sally. And I think I know something of your tender-hearted love for your brother and for Roger who gave you tulips when you were sick.
