Pushing the Season

Memories of spring blooms in the past.

Memories of spring blooms in the past.

Usually I hate that stores push the season, bringing out Christmas merchandise before Thanksgiving, or Valentine hearts just before Christmas is past.  But there is one season that I really liked to see that the stores were pushing.  The growing season!

Last week when I was shopping, I saw seed packets tucked tidily into their display carousel.  Seeing those packets with their bright colors and the pictures of thriving blooms was like meeting a dear friend whom I haven’t seen for days.  It really is too early (where I live) to get plants started.  We shouldn’t plant annuals until the first week of June, –but seeing the display of seed packets was exciting to me.  It’s still January, but soon the snow will be gone, the days will be warmer and we can check on the growing things which will be springing up outdoors.  Seed packets burst with hope.

Bring on hope!

About NJ

I love to write! I realized in 9th grade that I really enjoyed writing. Every two weeks we had assigned topics that we were to use to write an essay. I liked writing the essays. I'm a mom and a grandma. None of my family live nearby, but they visit when they are able to come. I've been a pastor's wife and a grade school teacher. Now I'm retired and enjoying visiting others, and indulging myself in my hobbies, --writing and art activities. I'm very thankful for the blessings in life.
