This morning I took the Yaris to Lucky’s Repair to get it undercoated for winter protection. I drove there and Lucky brought me back home. It’s too dangerous to try to walk along that half mile of road between Colza Corners and Shady Avenue where there are sidewalks. He remembers working on my husband’s cars. He thinks there was a green car. I don’t remember a green one.
He thinks we will have a worse winter than we did last year. His grandfather told him that he was taught that muskrats build their homes for winter a little higher than the amount of snow there will be. His grandfather lives beside a swamp and he checks out the height of the muskrat lodges each year and, according to him, it’s always correct. One year the muskrats built lodges with just a little clearance about the water and there was hardly any snow that winter. I don’t know if it’s too soon for them to have built their winter homes or not. They may be building right now. I never heard about this before.
